TAROT tips for Beginners 🌙

⭐︎ Cleanse your deck after you buy it!! This is so so important, because you want to start working with a new clean energy.

⭐︎ There are thousands of ways to cleanse your deck. Cleansing can be something super simple, as just knocking on your deck 3 times or placing a crystal on top of the deck! Just do what feels right.

⭐︎ Interview your deck! After you buy new cards, talk to them, ask them questions and figure out the decks personality. There are a lot of fun spreads for this.

⭐︎ Sleep with your deck. Another good way to bond with your deck is sleeping with it near you. Just put it under your pillow or somewhere close to you over night!

⭐︎ You don’t have to read reversals. It’s up to you if you decide to turn the card back around. Again, do what feels right!

⭐︎ Reversals don’t always equal opposites. If you decide to read reversals, remember that it can have completely different meaning then just being opposite of the upright position.

⭐︎ Start simple. Start out with something simple like past/present/future spread. It’s super easy and gives you clarity on any situation.

⭐︎ Spend time looking at the picture. When you pull a card, really spend time observing at all the different colors and symbols before you look up the meaning.

⭐︎ Jumping cards usually have something important to tell you. If you’re shuffling your deck and a card jumps out, look up what it means and what message it has for you!

⭐︎ Pull a daily card each morning. This is super fun and easy. You definitely don’t need to do this everyday, but it’s a good way to memorize the cards and their meanings.

and finally, practice, practice and practice! It’s going to take a while until you remember all the meanings, but just have fun and enjoy the process!🦋

basic ass witch tips 🔮

  • on some kind of medication, including but not limited to hormonal birth control, heart medication, and anti-depressants? you better double check with your doctor or pharmacist before you drink that new tea you just bought.
  • always, always, always tell your doctor or check with your pharmacist before trying any kind of herbal supplement, whether it’s something you made yourself or something you bought at the store.
  • have sensitive skin? dilute your essential oils before putting them anywhere near your skin or in your bathtub.
  • have a diagnosed medical condition? talk. to. your. doctor. before ingesting anything or putting anything on your body that you aren’t familiar with.
  • don’t. drink. essential. oils. essential oils are not consumable!!!!!
  • don’t put citrus oil on your skin and then go out into the sun unless you want a badass chemical burn.
  • don’t put any kind of damn essential oil on your skin without diluting it with a carrier oil. almond oil? olive oil? coconut oil? i don’t care. dilute your essential oils.
  • don’t put essential oils on your animals, diluted or not, point blank.
  • oh, and don’t put fucking crystals in their water bowls to “cleanse their chakras” or whatever the fuck.
  • speaking? of crystals? don’t put crystals in your bodily orifices. don’t put crystals in your own damn water. just don’t.
  • thinking about burning some kind of random herb in your house? you better make sure it’s not gonna release noxious fumes and murder your family.
  • speaking of random herbs - got the urge to forage for some herbs out in the wild? wear. fucking. gloves.
  • don’t burn incense or herbs around your pets. they have tiny, fragile respiratory systems and are super sensitive to that kinda shit.
  • gotta burn a candle down completely for a spell? you better not leave that shit unattended unless you want a house fire.
  • always. practice. fire. safety. that means, don’t go burning shit outside during a burn ban.
  • gods help me - if you wanna harvest your own blood via finger stick, stay away from dirty safety pins and needles and invest in some lancets.
  • drinking dirty water from outside can literally give you worms. boil your damn water.
  • oh yeah. moon water. everyone loves to make moon water. you know what happens when you leave a jar of water at room temperature? it stagnates and grows bacteria. refrigerate that shit.
  • fresh herbs or other things of that nature left at room temperature can also grow super harmful bacteria, for example, raw garlic submerged in oil at room temperature is a breeding ground for botulism and mold.

Astro Witch 101

beewitched-blr

So, you love astrology but have just realised that you are no longer just your sun sign. It’s a confusing and intimidating thing for a beginner astro-witch to see. That’s why I have decided to create a little guide to help anyone out. This will be the very basics but will be added to over time. Baby steps for baby-witches.

Terminology

Sun Sign = The controller. This is your main sign. The sign you have known your whole life thinking that’s where it ended.

Moon Sign = Your inner-self. Your emotions, inner-thoughts, wants and needs are all controlled by your moon sign.

Ascendant/Rising = Acceptably called either, the Ascendant/Rising is your natural mask in the face of society. So basically, this is how people view you.

Mercury = A very important sign, it rules your decision making mind. It is how you communicate and can be easy to spot in a person.

Venus = This sign rules love and finances.

Mars = Most represent Mars with anger, and this is true. But it is so much more than that. This sign rules our animal instincts, energy, action and sexual desires.

Jupiter = This sign covers rules both generosity, tolerance and wisdom.

Saturn = This sign represents fears, our limitations and responsibility

Uranus = This sign is all about individuality. Progressiveness, forward-thinking and fresh-starts.

Neptune = This sign rules the subconscious. Dreams, psychic-sensitivity and inspiration.

Pluto = This sign represents rebirth. New-beginnings and growth.

Tarot Tips

🃏 Find The Empress in your deck. The card behind her will reveal what you need to do to nurture and care for yourself.

🃏 When in conflict or competition with someone, look for 5 of Wands. The card behind it will reveal the solution to the problem.

🃏 If you see the same card over and over again in readings, it is a sign and you must pay attention to its message for you.

🃏 For a better understanding of each card, observe it closely and form your own interpretation that follows its themes. It will help you interpret readings better.

🃏 To find out what is making you feel stuck or delayed, look to The Hanged Man. The card underneath him will show what is holding you back. The card in front of him will show you how to overcome it.

🃏 When shuffling your cards, if any card drops out of your grasp, take it as a sign and read the card.

🃏 You do not need crystals with you to do proper readings, but a good way to cleanse your deck is to place a clear quartz on the top of your deck before each reading. Keep in mind; there’s a variety of ways you can cleanse your deck.

🃏 Often when The High Priestess appears in a reading, she is trying to tell you that you know the answers and that you should listen to your inner voice.

🃏 There is no wrong way to shuffle or cleanse your deck. Do what feels right for you!

Air represents intellect and the mind, wisdom, knowledge; logic as well as abstract thought, intuition and higher consciousness. If you’re seeking freedom, travels, or to enhance your memory and focus - focus on Air spells! Air is whimsical and amiable, personally I haven’t found it useful for more serious spells, but it does wonders for my studies.

Fire represents energy, passion, purification, love, inspiration, desire, will, courage, power, leadership, sexuality. In spellcraft, focusing on Fire is good for purification, healing and love spells; it’s the best element for quick, strong spells. Although, Fire is fierce in essence, and Fire spells are susceptible - they should be well thought out.

2. Check the moon phase. Knowing the moon phase is a helpful witchy practice.

3. When going outside look up at the sky, then to the ground. acknowledge the ground you walk on and the air you breath.

Alright, there are tons of things to do, duties, requirements etc to becoming Specific Types Of Witches or specific folk practices or religions. To be a Strega, or curandero, or Santero, or Root Worker or whatever…but those are part of cultures.

But to be a witch, and do the stuff, that’s all on you and what you’re willing to do, willing to study, willing to practice. You start off like everyone did, read something, talk to someone or do something. It’s not something that’s ever done, so you just have to begin.

Been doing this 14 years and I’m still learning, and some stuff I did at the very beginning, I still do. Other stuff? Did it once, read through it once and never did or referenced it again.

Now for the requirements and how to be a witch, sure there are specific traditions and religions that include or border magic in some way. Some practices suggest reciting the Lords Prayer backwards to begin. Renouncing your connection to the church and your past. Some practices mean you learn and participate in a coven for a year and a day as part of an initiation. Some you don’t get to call yourself a witch until a mentor gives you the go ahead.

The word witch is so expansive you can do whatever you want and no one can tell you otherwise because you are you. You are an individual.

Flip side, if you decide to be a specific type of witch, or call yourself something in particular, just make sure you back it up. Don’t be a green witch who hates plants. Don’t be a brujo/a of you aren’t latinx. Don’t be a fairy doctor if you don’t believe or work with the fae.

If you are interested in a particular branch, or practice then research. There is probably more information about it than you realized. Read. Talk to practitioners if you can. Read some more. Do the stuff. It’s called a practice for a reason after all :)

If you want something that you have to do to be a witch…then light a candle and tell it “I’m a witch.” Blow it out. There’s your first spell. A dedication ritual to yourself. Boom.

It’s not a dumb question, it’s a dumb answer. “How do i become a witch?” “Um…you just….become a witch.”

Sabrina has it right if you read between the lines.

Sign your name in the book of the beast. (Decide if you want to be a witch.)

You must attend weekly black mass. (If you decide to do something in particular, like weekly meditation or something, then go ahead and do it.)

You just become enrolled in the Academy or Unseen Arts. (You have to learn and practice. It takes time, it’s ok to take breaks. But start with what interests you. Go from there.)

Oh, and leave closed cultures alone. Start with your personal history and culture. It’s more enriching when you have a direct connection to a history.

🦇Cheers, Barberwitch
